Capitol Region Organizing Project (CROP) is hosting a Sacramento Transportation Convening this Saturday (January 28), 9:00AM to 12:30PM. STAR recommends to anyone interested in transit and transportation that they attend. We hope that the outcome both a better understanding of the transit/transportation needs of the specific communities and the region, and the start of a collaboration to develop a progressive alternative to traditional ideas about transportation (which were represented by the failed Measure B). Though STAR is not a host of this event, we think our members can both contribute to and benefit from it. We have been impressed with the contributions of CROP organizers to our own transit planning efforts.
To register, go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/transportation-convening-tickets-30702189074. The event is free, though there no doubt will be an opportunity to contribute to the hosting costs for those who can.
The registration page summarizes the convening:
Sacramento Transportation Convening!
Everyone is invited to come learn about the current state of public transportation in Sacramento.
The training will look at why transit is so important for Sacramento’s future and what is at stake if we do not do anything.
At the end we will ask how do you imagine transportation in the region and how can we do it together?
