Listening session for Sacramento Transportation Choices, May 20

This post is on behalf of Sacramento Transportation Choices (STC).

Sacramento Transportation Choices (STC) will be holding its first open meeting on Saturday, May 20. The meeting is primarily a listening session, where representatives from various organizations who are or may be interested in being part of the STC coalition will make a brief presentation on their stories, concerns, and priorities. STC intends to build a “big tent” coalition, including organizations which are not transportation focused, but understand how transportation is a nexus for issues of livability, equity, climate action, housing, and economic vitality.

The meeting is open to everyone, but we are specifically encouraging organizations to share their stories while everyone listens. The time available will be divided by the number of organizations, so everyone is heard.

If your organization cannot send a representative but wants to be heard, send a short (half page) statement to allisondan52 at gmail.com, and it will be read at the meeting.

Sacramento Transit Riders Union (SacTRU) is meeting at the same location, 1:00 to 3:00, and you may wish to join them as well.

Location: Organize Sacramento, 1714 Broadway, Sacramento (served by SacRT Blue Line and bus route 51)

Time: 10:30 to 12:00, 90 minutes (this will give people time to hang out and talk, and/or eat lunch, before SacTRU)

Agenda:

  • Sharing: 70 minutes; organization representatives will share their stories and/or priorities, the time limit will be the time available divided by the the number of presentations)
  • Brainstorm: 10 minutes; what organizations and what voices are not in the room and should be; how will we bring them in?
  • Debrief: 5 minutes; how did this go, how can we improve
  • Next meeting: 5 minutes; set the next meeting date and initial agenda
