These are the transportation options NOT present at Sacramento Valley Station:
- Yolobus: Yolobus 42A/B serves downtown Sacramento, the airport, Woodland, Davis, and West Sacramento, running on J St and L St in downtown. Other Yolobuses also serve downtown, but they are peak hour buses, probably not relevant to the SVS discussion. Yolobus 42 should be modified so that it does serve the station. The connection to the airport is particularly important, but other locations as well.
- Greyhound Lines: Currently located on Richards Boulevard, within walking distance of the Township 9 light rail station, served by a single medium-low frequency bus (SacRT Route 15), with 30 minute weekday, 60 minute weekend, and short service hours. Not in a bike and pedestrian friendly part of town. The terminal used to be downtown on L St, centrally located, but was moved a few years ago. The former terminal has sat empty since then. There are many rumors about why it was moved, but no hard evidence.
- Megabus: Currently located near the 65th St light rail station on the SacRT Gold Line. Not a bike and pedestrian friendly part of town. Light rail and buses serve this location reasonably well except for the last Megabus of the day.
- Bike share: The Tower Bridge Preview Bike Share does not have a hub at the station. Rumor has it one will be added soon. People are parking Bike Share bikes the station despite the lack of a hub. The station is -just- within the geofenced area for the bike share system.
There are a number of commuter buses that come in to Sacramento, from Yuba-Sutter, Placer, El Dorado, cities in south Sacramento county, and Stockton. It probably does not make sense to have these commuter buses serve the station.
It might be useful to have other SacRT buses serve the station, in addition to Route 30, but no specific routes are being suggested.
If you can think of something that should be added to either the already list, or this NOT list, please comment.
