STAR statement on Sacramento Valley Station planning

STAR statement on Sacramento Valley Station planning

Phase 3 of the Master Plan process for Sacramento Valley Station (SVS) is now underway. The city has held workshops, stakeholder meetings, and offered an online survey. Details are on the City of Sacramento SVS web page. The process includes the historic train station, which was rehabilitated during Phase 2, but Phase 3 is about the entire area between I Street, the rail tracks, the river, and 5th Street.

STAR has provided eleven posts with background information on SVS. Many of our members took the online survey and expressed frustration that it did not ask the important questions and limited answers as though many decisions had already been made. We are also concerned that the planning process is giving priority to development rather than transportation. So the STAR Action Team developed a statement/position on SVS: STAR statement on Sacramento Valley Station Phase 3.

STAR Action Team will be continuing our discussion on SVS at our October 4 meeting. If you’d like to have input, comment here or contact us to arrange to attend the meeting. We have asked for a meeting with city staff to discuss our concerns and ideas.
