SacRT is receiving funding, via SACOG, for enhancements to the Gold Line to Folsom, under the Solutions for Congested Corridors Program (SCCP). The amount in the chart is in thousands, so the award is $20,300,000. The project amount is $48,395,000, with the remainder coming from SacRT funds.
Descriptions of the light rail portion of the project are scattered throughout the application (Caltrans-US_50-Multimodal_Corridor) but the best summary paragraph is: “Light Rail Service on the Gold Line between Sunrise Boulevard and Historic Folsom operates at infrequent 30-minute intervals due to the limitations of a single rail track in this section. This project element would provide for double-tracking of limited segments of the Gold Line in Folsom. Building this infrastructure will provide SacRT with the ability to increase service frequency to every 15 minutes. The completion of this service enhancement in conjunction with expanded evening service hours (currently City of Folsom service ends at 7 p.m.) will enable riders along the congested Highway 50 corridor to benefit from improved Gold Line service and a more comprehensive transit network.”
