SacRT approved the proposed fare reduction at the August board meeting. The new fares take effect October 1, and the pilot is for six months, but SacRT thinks it will be permanent.
Fares are:
- $2.50 adult single ride; $7.00 day pass
- $1.25 senior, disabled, student; $3.50 day pass
Significantly, the 90 minute transfer for 25 cents is now available to those who use cash and paper tickets. Free transfers are available to ConnectCard and ZipPass users.
The $20/month K-12 student pass pilot has also been extended and may become permanent. It has already caused a significant increase in student ridership, which had declined over the years, and precipitously after the last fare increase.
Great news! Thank you.

The post was incorrect in saying that the transfers are going to be free. They will be 25 cents. The post has been corrected.
