The Sacramento Transportation Authority (SacTA) is developing a transportation expenditure plan (TEP) for the intended next sales tax measure. The schedule is below:

This is a major issue that STAR is likely to be involved in, both as itself and as a member of the SacMoves coalition. We continue to be concerned that SacTA may shortcut or even miss the first step of developing goals before developing the TEP. Developing a list of projects before there are clear, community-developed goals would be putting the cart before the horse, or in this case, the car before the bus.
The next tax measure, still tentatively called Measure B, if it is properly developed, and if it passes, could be a major source of funding for transit, bringing transit expenditures up towards the minimum necessary for an effective transit system, which STAR believes to be one half cent total. It is currently 1/6th of a cent.
