transportation in SN&R

The current issue of the Sacramento News & Review (Volume 31, Issue 39, Thursday, January 9, 2020) has two items on the possible transportation sales tax measure which is being considered by Sacramento Transportation Authority.

Editor Foon Rhee’s article is Public Comment: For transit sales tax to pass, residents must be heart. He said “It’s a good call to slow down to give more time for public input. It’s not going to be easy to find a compromise that wins enough support from various interest groups and the suburbs to pass countywide. If the public doesn’t get a full and fair hearing early on, it will be nearly impossible.”

The second article is by Glenda Marsh, co-founder of Sacramento Metro Advocates for Rail and Transit (SMART), A transportation plan for all. She said “In contrast, our plan shows how congestion and air quality can be tackled by investing first in fixing roads and expanding transit.”

The SMART/SacMoves plan is available here as well as on the SMART Facebook page.
