SacRT has published a one-page about what they would do with the share from the potential Measure A transportation sales tax measure. SacRT’s share is somewhat less than 40%, as part of the ‘transit’ allocation would go to regional rail. Check the graphic below or download the pdf.
STAR’s position on transit funding is and has long been that SacRT needs a minimum of 1/2 cent of sales tax (or the equivalent in other funding support) in order to run a sustainable transit system. This potential allocation from Measure A and the 1/6 cent from the old Measure A still does not bring SacRT to the 1/2 cent level. In order to achieve the 1/2 cent, 2/3 of the new Measure A would need to go to transit. If that level of funding (at a minimum!) is not available, SacRT service will continue to fall short of what the region needs, and maintainance and fleet replacement will continue to be deferred.
