Sac region transit agencies

STAR usually focuses on SacRT. It is the largest transit provider in the SACOG six-county region (Sacramento, Yolo, Yuba and Sutter, Placer, and El Dorado), so this focus has some justification. But it is also a reflection of our limited capacity to track issues in all of the transit service areas. If you know of something going on with other agencies or areas, please let us know. If you are a rider on one of these transit providers and can provide us with more information, please do.

Sacramento County

  • SacRT (Folsom and Elk Grove transit have been annexed to SacRT): light rail, bus routes, SacRT Go Paratransit, SmaRT Ride on-demand, Airport Express (142) operated jointly with Yolobus and Causeway Connection (138) operated jointly with UC Davis
  • South County Transit (operated by Sacramento County): commuter buses to Sacramento and some local service in Galt

Yolo County

  • Yolobus (Yolo County Transit District): bus service throughout the county and into adjacent counties
  • Unitrans: local bus service in Davis and UC Davis campus, joint UC Davis and City of Davis

Yuba & Sutter counties

El Dorado County

  • El Dorado Transit: local bus service, commuter buses to Sacramento, Lake Tahoe on behalf of Amtrak
  • Tahoe Transit District: local bus in South Lake Tahoe and Nevada (the Tahoe Basin is technically not in the SACOG region, but has links to the region)

Placer County

Capitol Corridor and San Joaquins (operated by Amtrak): regional rail, but with connections to transit at several locations for longer trips
