Phoenix Valley Metro Rail light rail boarding

This will be the last of the posts about other light rail systems (whew!) unless a reader has something to contribute. But look forward to a post about how SacRT might address its problem with not-level boarding.

Valley Metro Rail operates a single light rail line in the Phoenix area. It uses low floor Shinki Sharyo and Siemens S700 low floor railcars. Most stations are level boarding, but reviewing photos on the Internet indicate there may be some stations which are step up. It looks at though the Siemens railcars have bridge plates to fill the small gap between railcar and platform. It has been so long since Dan used the system that he doesn’t have any clear memory, nor any photos. Much of the Valley Metro Rail is street-running between stations, but the stations are in dedicated space. Valley Metro also operates a streetcar.
