On Monday evening, the SacRT board delayed agenda item 7.2 to the January 8 board meeting. Patrick Hume asked for the delay, but most of the board ended up agreeing with him. So, it will come before the board again.
The claimed reason for the delay is that board members want more information. It was not stated what information they wanted. This is strange, because the proposal before them was option 1 of the November agenda, “Request an allocation of $10M in SacRT’s SB125 funds and utilize approximately $9.2M SacRT’s other funds to fully fund the Dos Rios Light Rail Station Project.” The board didn’t seem to have any problem making a decision against Dos Rios with the information available in November, but claimed it couldn’t make a decision for Dos Rios with the same information in December.
The SACOG board passed, that same morning, a recommendation to allocate $10M in SB 125 funding to the project.
All four transit advocacy organizations (STAR, SacTRU, RFTM, and SMART) were there to advocate for the motions to reconsider the negative decision, to rescind that negative decision, and then to make the positive decision. These were allowed to speak. SacRT staff was not allowed to speak.
SacRT board meeting, Monday, January 8, 4:00PM, probably back at the regular location of 1400 29th St, Sacramento. See next post about the time of the meeting.
