SacRT board passes Dos Rios station

On Monday, January 8, the SacRT Board of Directors passed funding for the Dos Rios Light Rail Station. The vote was 11-1, with only Bret Daniels of Citrus Heights voting against. Several board members who had earlier voted against the station voted yes this time. This success was due in part to the strong advocacy of the Mirasol Village residents, Sacramento Housing Alliance, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, business interests in the River District, and perhaps most importantly, all four of the transit advocacy organizations, of which STAR is one.

The projection is that the station will open sometime in 2026. The project is not just for the station itself, but for realignment of tracks through the station. It will be expensive, about $41M, but STAR feels that the investment is worth it, to fulfill the commitment made to Mirasol Village and its residents, and to improve transit service for the River District and throughout the system.
