Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen (District 10) introduced AB 1924: Sacramento Regional Transit District, on January 25, and amended March 6. Co-authors include Assembly members Heath Flora (District 9), Josh Hoover (District 7), and Kevin McCarty (District 6), and Senate members Angelique Ashby (District 8) and Roger Niello (District 6). The legislation would amend Public Utilities Code on SacRT. (pdf)
The legislation is not significant, providing slightly better language about annexation: Annexation shall only be effective if the legislative body of the city or county that requests to be annexed to the district agrees in writing with the board of directors upon the terms and conditions of annexation.
This is NOT the legislation for implementing the changes to board composition and representation that has been requested by SacRT, though it might be modified to include that. Sacramento Transit Advocates and Riders (STAR) is not opposed to this legislation, as of March 6.
