SacRT Safety Survey

From a SacRT email:

“The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is committed to providing a safe and respectful transit experience for all our riders and we need your input to help make this possible. We’re conducting a customer survey to gather your feedback on important safety concerns, including your experiences with street harassment and how safety perceptions affect your decision to ride.

Why Take the Survey?

Your responses will help us better understand the challenges faced by riders and shape a safer, more inclusive experience across our transit system. This survey is part of a statewide effort, guided by California Senate Bill 1161 (2022) and Senate Bill 434 (2023), to address street harassment and improve safety on public transit.

How to Participate

You can take the survey throughout October 2024:

  • Visit sacrt.com/ridersurvey to complete the survey online.
  • Surveys will also be available at stations, on buses, and on trains.
  • The survey is available in English, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Earn a $10 Credit

As a thank-you for your time, all riders who complete the survey will receive a $10 credit, which will be applied to your Connect Card or ZipPass account.

Your feedback is essential in making our transit system a safer and more welcoming space for everyone. Thank you for your time and participation.

STAR encourages all riders to take the survey, whether you have experienced ‘street harassment’, are concerned about street harassment, or are comfortable with safety on SacRT light rail and buses, and at stations. The survey does not address ‘street harassment’ going to and from transit, because it was not part of the authorizing legislation. Many riders have reported to transit advocacy organizations and to SacRT issues with going to and from transit.

It is likely that other transit agencies in the region will also offer a survey, though we have not seen any announcements as of this date.
