Sacramento Transit Advocates and Riders (STAR) believes that the SACOG model of having board members who are also members of the boards of transit agencies provide representation of transit interests is insufficient.

We believe that there should also be a designated board position for transit agencies. Since a robust transit system is critical to achieving the regional GHG reduction target that SACOG must meet, it is critical that transit receive serious and ongoing consideration at the board (and committee) level. Transit is not currently receiving that level of consideration, in agenda items, in discussion, and in funding. Of course we want transit board members to continue to provide a voice for transit, but we need more than that.
