Update: SacRT FY 2026 operating budget revenue

This is an update to STAR’s May 11 post ‘SacRT FY 2026 operating budget revenue‘. Though the ‘abridged’ budget did not identify or separate out the Measure A revenue, that information was available, and was in the staff presentation on the budget at the May 12 SacRT Board meeting. The chart is below, which should have been made available to the public and the board in the May 12 ‘abridged’ budget.

Measure A (the existing Measure A, not a potential future measure which might be called A) is budgeted to provide 26% of operating revenue. This is critically important, and no budget revenue chart or table should be presented without this information. Measure A (existing) is subject to decline over time because almost all projects were bonded, so a continually increasing portion of the sales tax income is going to pay off the bonds, not to projects. This is NOT SacRT’s fault, it is Sacramento Transportation Authority’s fault.
