Green Line and Route 11

As mentioned in a previous post (SacRT Route 11 30-minute service; https://star-transit.org/2025/02/07/sacrt-route-11-30-minute-service/), SacRT is going to suspend service on the Green Line (13th Street to 7th & Richards/Township 9) on June 16, and replace it with better service on Route 11.

Though the original plan was to increase service to 30 minutes, it appears that the only change is to run Route 11 from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays. Route 11 is 45 minutes, one of only two non-commuter routes in the system that does not achieve at least 30 minute service. STAR has advocated for increasing the frequency of Route 11 since 2019. It was neglected in the SacRT Forward process, and has been neglected ever since. Ironically, the other low frequency route also serves Natomas, Route 13 Natomas/Arden.

The Next Stop except on this is below. See also the SacRT webpage: Green Line Light Rail Temporary Suspension Begins June 16, 2025.

Beginning Monday, June 16, 2025, Green Line light rail service will be temporarily suspended due to construction activity in the Railyards area. The service disruption is expected to continue through summer 2026. As a result, the 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station will be temporarily closed.

Bus Service and Alternatives
To help support the impacted riders, bus route 11 will serve as an alternative to Green Line service. Starting Monday, June 16, 2025, SacRT is expanding bus route 11 weekday service hours to operate from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Please note: The Green Line does not operate on weekends, so weekend bus service will not be affected.

Bus Detours (Effective Tuesday, May 6, 2025)
Due to the same construction project, bus routes 11, 103, 106, and 129 will be detoured off 7th Street near the Railyards. The bus stop at 8th & F streets will be temporarily closed.
