what is SacRT surplusing?

Update: A map showing the location of the SacRT bus maintenance facility is now shown on the map, since that was part of the issue, about whether these parcels are being surplussed. They are not. The paragraph about lack of information about disposition of the dispatch facility in parcel 00702730220000, at the corner of N Street and 29th Street, was removed because there is some information in the staff report.

Agenda item 4.3 on today (2025-07-28) agenda is ‘Midtown Surplus Properties Update‘. There has been a lot of confusion among transit advocates and the public about what properties are being surplussed. There was a rumor that the bus maintenance yard was being surplussed. The agenda item does not help. It lists parcel numbers, and nothing else. No map is provided. No indication about what is currently on those parcels is provided. So, STAR did the research.

The map below shows the parcels in question. The block of four parcels in the upper right, along N Street and 29th Street, is the former SacRT headquarters building. The other parcels are various buildings that were used as office space before the move to 1102 Q Street, except the L shaped parcel at the bottom, which is a parking lot.
