STAR statement on SacRT Campus Master Plan

STAR statement on SacRT Campus Master Plan

Yes, some of SacRT administration building dates to the streetcar era

STAR has reviewed the information provided at the August 25 SacRT board meeting on an ongoing process of planning for a revised or new campus (see Agenda item 10), and has provided a statement to SacRT on the planning process and ideas: STAR statement on SacRT Campus Master Plan.

The plan might identify a new or rebuilt administration building on the existing campus (three areas in the 29th Street area of midtown), or at a new location in downtown (the central city, not specifically downtown), or south of downtown. The operations campus, which is the bus maintenance facility and bus parking on three blocks under the freeway, might remain where it is, or be moved to a new location. There is an implication in the presentation that administration and operations campuses should be together, but STAR does not believe that is necessary.

STAR will be discussing the campus master plan at the next Action Team meeting. If you’d like to have input, comment here or contact us to arrange to attend the meeting. We will probably schedule a meeting with SacRT staff following our meeting.

The diagram below, from the August 25 presentation, shows the existing SacRT campus. The only other two significant facilities are the customer service center at R St & 13th St (at the light rail station), and the light rail maintenance and storage facility on the Blue Line between Swanston and Marconi/Arcade stations.
