Transit Equity Day / Rosa Parks on February 4

Transit Equity Day, which is also a celebration of Rosa Parks and her direct action to de-segregate buses in Montgomery, Alabama, is this Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

SacRT is offering free rides that day with a flier (pdf | png). You don’t need to print it, you can show it on your smart phone or other device. Roseville Transit is recognizing the day, but doesn’t seem to be offering free rides. Other transit agencies in the region haven’t mentioned the day or Rosa Parks, so far as we can find.

‘public transit is a civil right’

It would be great if the Sacramento transit area agencies did a formal celebration of Transit Equity Day, but unfortunately, neither STAR nor the others have.

  1. Yolobus is also giving free rides on Tuesday. Riders can travel for free on fixed routes, Bee Line and paratransit.

I found this on their Rider Alerts page in an area that expands when clicking the down arrow to the right of the Feb 4 | Transit Equity Day headline.
